What is the alcohol policy?

We want to make sure you have a fan and safe party; we will take care of creating your own custom bar package! One bartender is included with your rental fee. You are required to have one bartender per 150 guests. Additionally, any outside alcohol is strictly prohibited.

What is your catering policy?

We welcome any and all caterers. They must be insured! We do of course have recommendations of caterers who have been to Emerald Hills many times.

Question 6

Do you have outdoor ceremony site options?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We have two outdoor ceremony options. You can have your ceremony down in our main outside ceremony location or up by the venue on the patio! We of course will take care of setting the chairs and benches up for you. If weather plays a role in your day, we will have a plan B and host the ceremony inside the venue.

Does the building have HVAC?

Yes! We will make sure your guests stay comfortable in our space for your wedding. The bridal suite and grooms lounge have their own heating/cooling unit as well.

Question 8

When do I send my final guest count?

Your final guest count will be finalized at your design consultation which will be held around a month prior to your wedding. We will also create and finalize your bar package and collect any outstanding payments at this consultation.

Who is responsible for cleaning the venue after the event?

Cleaning services are included with your rental fee! The only thing you are responsible for is getting all of your personal belongings you bring into the space for the weekend. We will take care of the rest so you can enjoy the time with your family and friends.

What is the closest lodging?

We are located just 13 miles west of Honey Creek Resort which sits on Lake Rathbun. We encourage our couples to let their guests know about the resort and make a weekend out of their visit down to Southern Iowa.  Foxtail cabins is just 12 miles away and on the same route as Honey Creek. Other options for your guests are in Centerville, IA and/or Chariton, IA. We can also provide a few different shuttle companies you may use to transport your guests to and from the venue. Additionally, we have a few on-site lodging options.
